CAREERS WEEK NEWS : NATIONAL CAREERS WEEK & ANNUAL ‘EAST SUSSEX SCHOOLS CAREERS FAIR’ – HOSTED BY RATTON, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH EAST SUSSEX COLLEGE & BEXHILL 6TH FORM COLLEGE!

Week commencing 3rd March was #NationalCareersWeek, and what a busy time it is for our #CareersTeam, and an informed time for our learners!
The week saw whole year group assemblies hosted by Mrs Peters, Assistant Headteacher, which really set the tone for the week and focused thoughts on next steps and life after Ratton. Then, selected students took part in the #iCan event (an event tailored for students with SEND) and a Year 9 Careers event. SEE SLIDES PICTURED.
On the Thursday it was time for the main event, #TeamRatton hosted its ever-popular annual ‘East Sussex Schools Careers Fair’, in partner with East Sussex College and Bexhill College.
Over 1200 students from schools all over Eastbourne attended this FREE event. They were able to visit stands hosted by a myriad of exhibitors, including local colleges, apprenticeship providers and universities, as well as a vast range of businesses from a variety of different sectors.
The event was, as ever, very popular and sparked excitement and enthusiasm amongst our town’s young people. The venue, Sports Park on Cross Levels Way, was a brilliant location for this popular local event. Thank you for having us all!
Colleges were on hand to talk about all the different courses they have on offer for our young people. Apprenticeship providers had useful information on apprenticeships in a wide range of sectors. Businesses kindly gave up their valuable time to come in a talk to students about job opportunities within their sector. All in all, an invaluable experience. A huge THANK YOU to our supporting providers and exhibitors, your ongoing support of our trust and extensive careers programme is hugely valued.
Students were able to be hands-on and interactive at many of the exhibitor stands, which gave them a real insight into what happens within real jobs, in real workplaces! Well done to all of the students who attended, you all conducted yourselves professionally and represented your schools brilliantly. Thanks to attending schools/students: @Cavendish school @Seaford Head School Willingdon Community School @Hailsham Community College @Eastbourne Academy School @The Turning School @Gildredge House. You guys rock! See you next year, for more #Careers conversations.
Mrs Peters, Assistant Headteacher for Careers, Information, Advice & Guidance and coordinator of the event, commented as follows:-
“This event is testament to the wonderful support we have for our young people of the town, and everyone has been able to exhibit and attend FOR FREE; this is something I’m hugely proud of; especially in this climate. Until next year…..”
This event is the epitome of teamwork, by those who truly care for the future of the young people of our town #Eastbourne
