⭐Match Report: U15 Girls – ESFA Cup vs Lingfield (Home)
⭐Final Score: #TeamRatton 3 – Lingfield 5
⭐Player of the Match: Zara Stubbs
Our #TeamRatton U15 girls’ delivered a passionate and determined performance in their #EnglishSchoolsFACup home fixture against Lingfield School, in a match – we are told – that was full of drama, skill, and resilience!
Here’s what Mr Brooke, Curriculum Leader for PE, reported:-
“The starting squad featured Lola in goal, with Erin, Charlotte, Eva, and Amelia forming a strong defensive unit. Jessica took up the role of defensive midfielder, supported by Elsa, Demi, and Belle in midfield. Up front, Zara and Darcie led the attacking line.
Despite some outstanding saves from Lola—most notably a brilliant low dive to her right—Ratton went into the break 2–0 down. The second half began with real intent, as Ratton pressed high and threatened the Lingfield goal with several speculative efforts from outside the box.
Their pressure paid off when Zara and Darcie combined superbly, with Zara calmly placing the ball into the bottom corner to bring Ratton back into the game. Lily joined the midfield in the second half, Mila had earlier replaced an injured player and Lillian stepped into the defensive midfield role.
Lingfield responded with two quick goals to extend their lead to 4–1, and soon after made it five. But Ratton’s spirit never wavered. Darcie Dain found the bottom corner with a composed finish, and Zara battled through the defense to score again, giving the team hope with just three minutes remaining.
Despite a late push and the possibility of more goals, time ran out. The final score didn’t reflect the quality and heart shown by the team. Lingfield’s Director of Football praised Ratton as “the best team that they have played so far,” a huge compliment to the squad’s performance.
Every player should be proud of their effort and commitment. The focus now shifts to the league campaign, where this team will undoubtedly continue to impress.”
